I have always experienced an internal dialogue between life and death.
My paintings are an interpretation of this conversation,
illustrating a continuous play of opposites on the cycle between life and death.
This visual dialogue is symbolized through the contrast between bold and calm color;
energetic or subtle brushstroke, balance of dark and light; composition of ground and space; layering of color and motion.
The subject matter of my work is the human face and flora.
The faces are simultaneously real and unreal, expressing a multitude of emotion.
The flora, painted from full bloom to dried, continues to be creatively beautiful in lines and forms exaggerated and distorted.
I find the external complexity of these subjects to be symbolic of the strength of mind and spirit throughout the cycle of life and death.
