Lisa Bartell is an oil painter, focusing on the imagery of the natural motifs, which she transforms into a unique style of expression.
Bartell began her art career as an illustrator and designer. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent State University, Ohio
and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Memphis, where she studied under John Robinette, medal winner of The Society of Illustrators in New York City.
Bartell studied drawing and painting at Temple University's Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA.
Since 2002, Bartell has strictly focused on painting. Her work has been featured in several group and solo exhibits, as well as juried exhibitions.
Bartell's paintings are in many private collections in North Carolina as well as other states.
Bartell's painting, "Filled With Colors", was featured in the 2004 edition of North Carolina's Raleigh News & Observer "What's Up: Critic's Picks On Best Art".
She is a recipient of the Artist Showcase Award for "The Healing Power of Art" and the Award of Excellence for "Herstory". Both are Manhattan Arts on-line exhibits curated by Renee Phillips of the International Association of Art Critics. Other juried exhibits include, the 2008 Durham Art Guild juried show, juror Beverly McIver, the 2009 Visual Art Exchange, "Seeing Red", juror, The Design Box; the 2010 Raleigh Fine Arts Society show, juror, John Beerman; the 2010 Manhattan Arts International exhibit, "Positive Art that Uplifts the Spirit", juror, Joanie San Chirico; the2011"Black and White Exhibit, Frank Art Gallery, juror, John Rosenthal and the 2011 Light, Space and Time on-line exhibit entitled "Nature".
Bartell was recently featured in the "Sightseeing" column of the Nov./Dec. issue of Artsee Magazine.
Lisa Bartell currently lives and works in Durham, North Carolina.
